Arnold Tn U19 1-3 Staveley MW U19

North Midlands Under 19's League - Monday 3rd September 2012 - kick off 7:45pm

The first U19 league game of the season at Eagle Valley, and although the first half was an entertaining affair, the second was less so -  the only notes I made were to record the two goals.  Rob Waite will have a fuller report on his the66pow blog.....he takes loads of notes, does Rob!!!

It would be nice to get a team sheet at every U19 game - saves a lot of messing about trying to suss out who did what to whom!  It's also good to have a colour programme - well done Eagles......

Walked in to the bar at Eagle Valley and was immediately mistaken for one of the members of ZZ Top. If only! I'd like to be a quid behind Billy Gibbons!!!!

Richard and Ricky Lane were with Rob when I walked pitch side - I silently thanked the Lord. As Kev was unable to get to this game, and I knew no-one else in the ground, if the three R's hadn't have been there, I'd have been "Billy No-Mates" again.....

We had to wait until the 30th minute for the games opening goal, SAM FINLAW beating three defenders before slotting past Arnold keeper Tom Dudley. Five minutes later, JAKE SMITH powered home from 6 yards after Pat Lindleys' mis-kick completely fooled the home defence. H-T 0-2

Arnold pulled one back on 64 - John King saw his initial effort blocked, but JOE BROTHWELL ran on to the loose ball 20 yards out, and crashed it past Sam West in the Welfare goal.

With five minutes of the game left, PAT LINDLEY  tried his luck from the edge of the box, sending the ball flying through a crowd of players, and with the help of a kind deflection it ended up nestling in the back of the net, effectively ending the game as a contest. F-T 1-3

Admission £2 (inc prog and team sheet)
