Plough Barflys 0-4 Gedling Inn

Notts Sunday League Premier Premier - Sunday 2nd September - kick off 10:28 am

Played at the Watnall Road home of Hucknall Rolls Leisure.

Ahh,, the click of fag-lighters and the pffsssst of opening beer cans - it has to be Sunday morning football!!! No - the players weren't the ones with the cans! Their entourages though, were in a right old party mood.

The Barflys team is basically the core of Linby CWFC, while Gedling Inn are Chesterfield Arms from last season, with a few notable additions. Of the new Gedling players, Dwayne Soar was a rock in the centre of their defence, and Anthony "Chink" Gregory showed his undoubted class, netting three times, and generally running the home defence ragged.

I was told that Gregory has just signed for Basford United in the EMCL.  Blimey - United mean serious business once again this season - their squad is phenominal!!!!

This game was a fairly tight affair for the first 30 minutes or so - although Gedling had the better chances. They were thwarted time and time again by Flys keeper Aaron Wilby (son of the world famous Mark Wilby) - don't ask me, ask Flys secretary Tony Knowles!!

Gedling's FELIX HOGG eventually broke the deadlock on 35, evading two tackles before running into the box and firing hard and low past Wilby. H-T 0-1

The second half saw Gregory take command - he beat Wilby one-on-one for his first goal on 54. He added his second in the 63rd minute. Danny Bainbridge had a couple of fierce drives well saved by Gedling keeper Johnson, but GREGORY had the final say, beating two defenders and Wilby twice, before sliding the ball home on 85 to complete his hat-trick. F-T 0-4

Great stuff - next week - same venue -- T8s v Carlton Top Spot
